Official Call for the 19th SD Party Canvass
OFFICIAL CALL: Legislative District Party Canvass of the 19 Senate District ~ District of the Republican Party of Virginia
As Chairman of the 19th Senate District Committee of the Republican Party, and pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the Committee, I, Thomas W. Arthur, do hereby issue this call for a Legislative District Party Canvass for the purpose nominating a Republican candidate for the office of State Senate to be voted for in the Special election on January 11, 2011, or whichever date is set by the Governor.
The Party Canvass will take place on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the six locations noted below.
Qualifications for Participation
All legal and qualified voters of the 19th Senate District under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting in writing as may be required, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions or primaries encompassing their respective election districts.
All voters shall meet the requirements as specified in the Call of the Party Canvass. Each person offering to vote shall present a government issued photographic identification or an official Commonwealth of Virginia Voter Registration card issued by the City of Danville, Pittsylvania, Franklin, or Campbell County Registrars, and must sign a statement of intent to support the Republican nominee in the Special Election as specified in the Republican Party of Virginia's Plan of Organization.

Voters who normally vote in the City of Danville:The Forum

Pittsylvania:
Voters who normally vote in the following Precincts: Twin Springs Elementary School, Chatham, Tunstall High School, West Blairs, Callands Fire, Climax Ruritan, Central-Chatham High School, East Blairs-SSEC, Keeling Fire Department, Kentuck, Ringgold Vol. Fire, Union Hall Elementary School, Stony Mill, Swansonville, Witmell, Brosville Elemenarty School, Dry Fork Vol. Fire, Bachelors Hall, Ferry Road, Mt. Hermon and Mt. Cross shall vote at the following location in this Party Canvass:Blairs Volunteer Fire Department

Voters who normally vote in the following Precincts: Sandy Level, Gretna High School, Riceville, Mt. Airy, Gretna Elementary School, Hurt Elementary School, Motley Sycamore, and Renan Vol. Fire Department shall vote at the following location in this Party Canvass:

Franklin:
Voters who normally vote in the following Precincts: Snow Creek, Dickenson, Penhook, Fork Mountain, Sontag, Henry, Ferrum, Endcott, Waidsboro, Callaway, Bowmans, Gogginsville, Boones Mill, Rocky mount East, Rocky Mount West, and Rocky Mount South shall vote at the following location in this Party Canvass:

Voters who normally vote in the following Precincts: Burnt Chimney, Scruggs, Glade Hill, Hodgesville, Dudley, and Coppers Cove shall vote at the following location in this Party Canvass:

Campbell:
Voters who normally vote in the following Precincts: Evington, Lynch Station, Altavista, Three Forks, Courthouse, Yellow Branch, Brookneal, Gladys, Morris Church, shall vote at the following location in this Party Canvass:Gospel Light Baptist Church, 31 Kingston Rd., Evington, VA 24550
Filing Requirements
Candidates for the Republican nomination at said canvass shall file a written statement by mail or in person, to Thomas W. Arthur 525 Wilson St. Danville VA 24541 which must be received not later than November 20, 2010 at 5:00 PM. Post marks do not govern. This statement must be accompanied by a $720 filing fee on certified funds made payable to the 19th Senate District Committee and include an affirmative declaration of their intent to support the Republican Party's nominee in this Special Election. If only one candidate properly files, then said candidate shall be declared the Republican nominee and no canvass will be held.
Registration Fee: There will be no registration fee to participate in this canvass.
